FAQs
Your saddle selling queries answered
What saddles we don't take to sell on behalf?
We do not market saddles with a value of less than $600 or over 15 years old.
We invest a lot of time into receiving, cleaning, advertising, insuring, dealing with buyers, and preparing the saddles for sale. We also warranty the saddle sold so anything over 15 years old is deemed to be of much higher risk for soundness.
What if you find a fault with my saddle?
When you send your saddle to us to sell on your behalf, it will be thoroughly inspected upon arrival for any potential faults. To check for soundness and also, so we can provide a 6 month warranty on the saddle, we are required to undertake a gullet inspection. This is charged at $50 and is either deducted from the sale proceeds or invoiced to you.
We will also note things such as bent stirrup bars, squeaky trees, stitching issues, torn/damaged straps.
If your saddle is deemed to have a potential fault, the saddle will be rejected back to you.
You are liable for the return courier fees to get the saddle back to you.
How much do you charge for selling my saddle?
Our commission fees are on a sliding scale depending on the value of the saddle. Our commission is calculated on the gross sale price of the saddle I.e. A saddle sold for $2,200 would have a commission deducted of $374 (17%) and the seller would receive the net proceeds of $1,826. If your saddle sells right on the cusp of the commission scale (within $50) then we will always charge the lesser commission.
11% on saddles worth $4001-6000
14% on saddles worth $3001-4000
15% on saddles worth $2501-3000
17% on saddles worth $2001-2500
19% on saddles worth $1501-2000
20% on saddles worth $1001-1500
25% on saddles worth $600-1000
What if my saddle is damaged while out on trial?
The buyer pays for the saddle in full upfront.
If your saddle is returned with any damage, this would be deducted from the refund due to the buyer and reimbursed to you.
Therefore, it does not affect the amount of money you would receive.
If your saddle is returned from trial beyond repair, we would not accept the saddle return and funds would be transferred to you the seller.
How do I send my saddle to you?
Once you have submitted your valuation request and we have discussed the sale price, we will email you a courier ticket to use at any NZ Post counter. Saddle Boxes can be found at places such as Mitre 10 and Storage Companies. The dimensions are usually around 60cm (high) x 39cm (wide) x 52cm (long).
How long before I get paid for the sale?
Once the sale has been confirmed by the purchaser, we will pay the net proceeds of the sale into your nominated bank account usually within 24 hours.
