SUITABILITY

Prominent Withers: This is the most consistently highlighted feature of the Optimax's fit. The tree shape and panel design provide ample clearance over the withers, preventing rubbing and pressure that can cause pain and reluctance to move forward.

Horses with a Defined Topline: The general design of the Optimax tree tends to suit horses that have some degree of curve to their back, rather than being extremely flat. The panel shape is designed to follow the natural contours of a horse with a noticeable wither and some shape to their back.

Curvy Backs: The Optimax can be a good option for horses with a moderately curvy back, especially when combined with prominent withers. The panel design can often accommodate the dip behind the withers without bridging.

Flat Backs: For horses with exceptionally flat and broad backs, the standard Optimax may not be the ideal choice, as the tree and panel shape may create pressure points along the spine. However, with the various panel options available, a skilled fitter might be able to make it work. It is always recommended to have a professional saddle fitting.

Short Backs: The panel length of the Optimax should be considered for horses with short backs. It's crucial that the panels do not extend past the last rib.

The Optimax boasts several features designed to enhance both the horse's freedom of movement and the rider's position:

Deep and Comfortable Seat: The saddle is designed with a very deep seat, providing the rider with a secure and stable position, which is particularly beneficial in dressage.

Anatomically Shaped Panels: The panels of the Optimax are designed to allow maximum freedom for the trapezius muscles, which are crucial for the horse's movement and performance. This design helps to prevent pressure points and encourages a greater range of motion in the shoulder.

Adjustable Synthetic Tree: Like all Prestige saddles, the Optimax is built on a synthetic tree that is heat-adjustable. This allows a qualified saddle fitter to widen or narrow the gullet to achieve a precise fit for the horse's current muscling and shape, and to readjust it as the horse develops.

Flocked Panels: The Optimax typically comes with flocked panels, which use synthetic wool. This allows for further customization of the fit by a saddle fitter, who can add or remove flocking to accommodate the specific contours of a horse's back.
